Description: Crafty Chloe is about a young girl who is very creative decides to make a special birthday gift for her friend.
Story: As someone who considers themselves relatively crafty, there were so many things about this story that I appreciated. I loved the message of the book. In looking for the perfect gift to give her best friend, Chloe finds that another girl has bought the one item that Chloe wanted to get. So instead, she decides to make something for her friend. The other girl turns her nose up at this idea, and at first, Chloe loses some of her confidence and is unsure if she can create something as nice as a store-bought present. But come up with something wonderful, she does. When I was a tween, more than any other time in my life, it seemed so important to have the ‘name brand’ jeans or shoes. But I appreciate how the book teaches that something made can be just as, if not more special than something that is store-bought.
Illustrations: I first discovered Heather Ross from her whimsical fabric designs. Her illustrations in this book are very cute. I loved the extra little illustrations that accompanied the text on some of the pages, and she does a great job depicting emotions on her characters faces. I also loved how she made the story more silly through her pictures. I hope to see more picture book illustrations from her in the future.

I think my kids would LOVE this book! They are FAR and above craftier than I. 🙂
Then you should get it for them…they’d love it.
