The capital has fallen and Alina is hiding from the Darkling once again, this time in the depths of an underground series of tunnels and caverns. Unable to summon light, her recovery from fighting the Darkling is arduous and with the Apparat looming over her shoulders at all times and trying to control all that she does, little progress has been made in finding the firebird, the third amplifier.
I was so glad I had waited to read Siege and Storm (#2) until after Ruin and Rising (#3) was released, because the moment I finished book two I dove right into book three.
Bardugo did a fantastic job completing the Grisha series. I was surprised with how she resolved the story, but it was a great ending. I even admit to shedding a couple of tears.
